  <description>
    <value>fritware, mould made, incised and painted in blue under a transparent turquoise glaze.
Shape: standing horse with mounted rider, wearing a shield on the back, and a small quadruped perched on the rump; all mounted on a rectangular plinth. The figurine is hollow, with a spout formed from the rider&#x2019;s pointed hat.
Decoration: all features are moulded, blue pigment runs through the glaze. On the horse, features comprise tail, eyes and armour on the head and neck; reins connect the horse&#x2019;s mouth with the saddle pommel. Details of the saddlecloth are incised under the glaze but are only visible on the left flank. Facial features and folds of a pointed hat and cloak are clearly visible on the rider, as are the bosses on his shield. The quadruped sitting on the rump is poorly defined, with facial feature barely visible, although a collar on the neck is apparent. Glaze pools on the plinth under the horse&#x2019;s feet and covers the remaining area thinly.</value>
