The cylindrical mug has a slightly concave base and an angular strap handle. The exterior is decorated at the top with a Gothic style border, below which is a railway-train travelling to the left through a landscape with hills, trees and bushes, a cottage, and a church with a spire. The locomotive, labelled 'JACO', is followed by a small open tender for the coal, two closed first-class passenger carriages, and a barouche and four occupants on an open truck.
