object type: Hard-paste porcelain painted in green and black enamels.  The shallow rounded sides are resting on a low tapered foot and flaring elegantly towards the lipped rim.  The interior has a central medallion enclosing a vigorously drawn five-clawed (Imperial) dragon trailing forked flames, its scaly body is twisted round to grasp a 'flaming pearl'.  It is all picked out in dark emerald-green enamel outlined and detailed in black, within a single green line border edged in black and  a further border around the rim.  The underside has two similar dragons flying in pursuit of 'pearls' on a delicately incised ground of overlapping waves divided by two sharp rocks, also between green line borders edged in black around the rim and foot.
