The exterior is painted with two maidens poling tree-rafts, one accompanied by a deer with a basket of peaches to her side, the other with a Buddhist Lion and another maiden carrying a bowl of peaches, a bundle of scrolls hannging from a forked branch to one side.  The rafts are divided by two iron-red bats, all reserved against an incised ground of swirling, foaming white waves.
