DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Dark buff stoneware, thrown and turned with applied strap handle, with traces of brown dip on the rim and handle and uneven mottled salt-glaze. The jug is cylindrical a pinched lip, one turned band below the lip, and three raised turned bands above the lower edge. The pulled strap handle  has an upward kick at the lower end. The brown mottling of the glaze around the rim and on top of the handle  probably indicate that these areas were dipped before firing.
