Shape: finely potted with a bulbous pear shaped body and plain rim on a low foot ring; a strap handle is attached to the rim and a mid-point on the body. Exterior: the rim is painted with a concentric band of bluish grey. On the neck, a guilloche pattern is painted in lustre on areas of raised slip which are outlined in red. On the body, a complex pattern of arabesques comprising greyish blue palmettes and gold tendrils, on raised areas of slip, both outlined in red. On the lower body, small birds are painted in lustre on raised areas of slip also outlined in red. The glaze runs unevenly over the foot ring where it is coloured turquoise. Interior: bluish grey band on the rim continues on interior, along with the opaque white glaze on the body and the turquoise colouring on the base.
