The exceptionally large bowl is circular with deep curved and slightly warped sides, standing on a circular hollow foot. The interior is decorated with a central circular medallion enclosing a landscape showing a man shooting partridges and another landing a fish. Around it there are eight sprays of prunus, peonies and other Chinese flowers. The exterior has a continuous fox-hunting scene with on one side three men on horseback, and a huntsman holding a horn crossing a stile on foot. Further round to the right there is another mounted huntsman and one running on foot, and in the background hounds and a fox, trees, and rocks. Plain bands encircle the base of the bowl.
