object type: Buff earthenware, tin-glazed greyish-white and painted in blue, green, yellow, and red. The plate is circular with eight arcs round the edge, and has a slightly sloping rim, shallow curved sides and flat centre with recessed base. On the front five reserved panels are delineated by an undulating  powdered manganese-purple frame. The central area is painted in polychrome with a man standing beside a fence, a rock, flowers and foliage. Two winged insects flying overhead. The spaces on the rim are occupied by a floral spray.
