Two suspension holes were made through the border at the top before firing. In the middle is a circular frame enclosing a lion passant, two rosettes, a figure-of eight motif, and the initials IS (S reversed) under the lion. This is surrounded by a circle of twenty-four crude kite-shaped faces with trailed dots representing the eyes and mouth, above which are twenty-four brown spots and a border of closely spaced dark brown spots. object type: concave earthenware plate, press-moulded, coated in cream slip and slip-trailed in two shades of brown under lead glaze.
