The bowl has two twisted handles and the cover has a finial in the shape of a bust of a long-haired girl holding a dog Red earthenware, thrown, with applied moulded and hand-modelled handles and finial, coated inside with cream slip and outside with brown, decorated in cream slip, dark brown slip, and yellow and green under lead-glaze. The bowl has deep curved sides and an everted rim, and stands on a splayed footring. On opposing sides it has a projecting handle in the form of twisted rope, and between them, on opposing sides, a mock ring handle. The domed cover has a flange underneath which fits into the top of the bowl. On top it has a circular platform edged with brown beading, supported by eight alternately yellow and green horizontal volutes. On top of the platform is a half-length bust of a girl wearing a green jacket and a cream hat over her long brown hair, and holding her arms around a small dog. The exteriors of the bowl and cover are decorated with oval motifs edged with yellow, and with closely set cream spots. The ring handles are green, and the projecting rope-like handles are green and cream with yellow terminals. The foot has spaced motifs comprising four spots arranged to resemble a simple flower head.
