The cylindrical tankard has a loop handle to the top of which is attached a hinged pewter thumbpiece in the shape of a shell, and low domed cover. The top and bottom of the sides have a narrow border with a simple design of continuous dotted points and curves with spots of blue at intervals. The main field is incised with a large slanting stem with two large lanceolate leaves with scalloped edges, a tulip and a bud, on either side of which is a vertical coiling stem with four circular flower with scalloped edges. The plants are reserved in a dark cobalt-blue ground stopping short of the area on either side and under the handle which is undecorated. undecorated.
