DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Buff earthenware, thrown and shaped, tin-glazed pale lavender-grey, and painted in blue and manganese-purple. The vase is of pear-shaped octagonal form with a short vertical neck. A hole has been bored in the shoulder just below the neck. The base is recessed.  Round the neck there are two narrow manganese bands and another after a short space. Below this the sides are decorated with a Chinese landscape with flowering trees among which are a standing man and a seated man. Below this there is a border of leaf-shaped panels or lappets containing reserved flowers, and below this two wavy manganese-bands.
