object type: Earthenware, thrown, with applied handle and spout, tin-glazed and painted in blue and manganese-purple. The vase has a pear-shaped body standing on a high domed foot. It has a wide neck,  a loop handle and a short straight spout linked to the neck by a small ring. Below the spout, painted in blue, is the royal arms of France (a crown over an oval shield charged with three fleur-de-lis), supported by angels, with below them, a cartouche enclosing the name of the contents 'Sirup Emetic' painted in dark manganese-purple.
