IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 73511 accession number: C.2435 & A-1928 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Saturday 6 August 2011 updated: Tuesday 31 October 2023 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Buff earthenware, moulded in two parts, the upper pierced, tin-glazed overall, and painted in blue. The cylindrical lower part has fluted sides and a recessed base. The upper part has straight fluted sides and a domed fluted top, both pierced by circular holes. The finial or knob is in the form of an inverted cone. There us a thread on the inside top edge of the lower part, and the inside lower edge of the top part permitting them to be screwed together. Both parts are decorated overall with sprays of hawthorn-like leaves and berries, with larger sprays of flowers and foliage at intervals. The lower edge of the cover has a border of white spoted ovals reserved in a blue band, and the lower edge of the body has a border of blue semi-circular motifs with smaller blue spots between them.
