object type: Buff earthenware, thrown, tin-glazed, and painted in blue. Cylindrical with a short neck, rounded shoulders, and straight sides with a slight bulge and contraction just above the base. The front is decorated with a cartouche enclosing the name of the drug: 'C/FL:Calendul' (Confection of Marigold Flowers), and enclosed by a baroque frame comprising scrollwork with dangling tassels on each side, a basket of fruit and flowers between two peacocks at the top, and at the bottom, a winged cherub's head flanked by swags of fruit.
