DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Buff earthenware, thrown, with applied handles, spout, and knob, tin-glazed and painted in dark blue. The porringer has a depressed globular body with a short everted neck supported on three squat feet.  It has two handles, and between them on the shoulder, a spout with a rounded triangular mouth. The shallow domed cover has a slightly conical button-shaped knob. The sides and cover are decorated with arrangements of flowers and foliage, and on the handles and spout there are stylzed fern-like sprays. On the underside of the pot is the date 'AO 1793'.
