IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 74357 accession number: C.3067.2 & A-1928 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Saturday 6 August 2011 updated: Tuesday 25 February 2020 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Soft-paste porcelain, with pierced, and applied moulded, and modelled decoration, painted overglaze in green, bluish-green, yellow, pink, puce, red and purple enamels., and gilt. The beaker-shaped vase is spirally fluted up to about 3 cm below the rim. Above that the sides are pierced by diamond-shaped holes to form a trellis with small flowerheads at the intersections. About 5 cm up from the base there is an outward-curving 'frill' with a row of flowerheads above it. On each side there is a female mask surrounded by applied flowers, and on the front and back,, sprays of convolvulous and other flowers. Insects, moths, and butterflies are painted in the spaces. The domed cover is pierced by four sets of diamond-shaped holes each forming a diamond shape with raised spots at the edges and intersections. Above them are nine convoluvulous flowers and leaves surrounding a perching bird which forms the finial. The gilding is restricted to a gold line round the upper edge of the vase.
