The flat underside is unglazed, and has a small round ventilation hold near the back. The circular, flat-topped base, has a border of gold Greek key ornment round the outer edge. Ganymede stands on his right leg with his left knee relaxed. He looks down towards the eagle which he touches with his left hand; his right, holding a bird, is raised to head level. He has a purple and gold circlet over his brown curly hair and has pale browneyebrows and eyes, and pale red lips. He is nude apart from a pale green drape around his hips, tied at the back, and falling down to the ground below the eagle's outstretched wings.
