<note>
<value>Depictions of putti, copied from engravings after François Boucher, were popular at Sèvres both en camieu and in polychrome, during the 1750s, and inspired the decoration of this vase. Cupids in pink camaieu and polychrome have been ascribe to Richard Askew, a painter who lived at Church Lane, Chelsea in 1761; by 1764 he had moved to Kings Road. He worked at Chelsea for a daily rate of 4s. 2d., probably as an outsider decorator, and in 1773 he left for Derby. See documentation.</value>
