The jug has a barrel-shaped body with a projecting lip and a loop handle moulded with basketwork. On the front on either side of the handle is a sprig of a Chinese man carrying a bird in a hoop at the top of a long pole. Below is a rococo shield bearing a griffin, flanked by scrolls, flowers, a panel of trellis pattern on one side, and a striated motif on the other, which curve upwards and outwards below the figures and towards the handle.
