Below the rim a vegetal frieze comprises flower heads, curling leaves and scrolling stems. In the roundel a scholar figure kneels in a landscape of pagodas and vegetation. Exterior: palmette leaves are reserved in blue and enclosed within brown lobbed medallions. Between the palmettes brown trellis work is arranged in arabesque forms. The glaze runs over the foot ring unevenly.
