Shape: inverted pear shaped body with a concave neck and flaring profile towards the base and out-turned rim.
Exterior: a pendant fleur de lis pattern is painted on the upper neck mirrored by a frieze of leaves on the lower neck. On the shoulder, flowers are painted on scrolling tendrils. On the body, a band of leaves is painted above the principal decoration comprising a frieze of figures dressed in western style clothes. The frieze is divided into three scenes, each separated by a floral spray with a bird and often a butterfly. In the first scene, confronted males sitting either side of a narrow, leafy tree, below which two quadrupeds, probably dogs, look on. The second scene depicts a mounted horseman brandishing a gun; the third scene depicts a young male and an older bearded male crossing a bridge towards a domed building, probably a shrine. Glaze covers the surface unevenly, leaving areas where the fabric of the vessel is visible.
Interior: undecorated except for glaze.C.48-19111accession numberC.48-191175244priref75244urihttps://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/75244https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/75244square paper label with all but lower edge serratedexterior base (underside foot ring)hand written in black, printed139/7 (hand written), printed red linelabelinscribed in black paint directly onto the surface, partially obscured by labelexterior base (underside foot ring)hand painted in black2710inscriptionreferenceagent-149638adlib-agent-1496387376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8The Fitzwilliam MuseumGiven by the Friends of the Fitzwilliam Museumreferenceagent-149645adlib-agent-14964510925b71-6838-30f7-a8dd-b68a2afaa14dThe Friends of the Fitzwilliam Museum191119111911-03-20givenEntry date: 1911-03-20180018001800circa180018991189918991899potterreferenceagent-149652adlib-agent-1496520d4f90dc-b166-3d4b-b0db-25f4118b6e98Unknownreferenceterm-106853adlib-term-10685325492eb4-1164-35eb-8dce-3601486f341519th Centurytransparent, covers the surface unevenlyreferenceterm-32652adlib-term-3265282d8ae3b-f165-395c-ba93-dfa1c282b7beglazereferenceterm-108851adlib-term-10885124e00e11-7f5d-3ad5-acda-1a5b13378105fritwareHeightcm35.8Weightg3660Widthcm24.4referencemedia-44682adlib-media-446825be7f6fd-bf5a-3057-ba4a-a66e47d7acd9jpegaa/aa13/C_48_1911_281_29.jpg1heightpixels740widthpixels57016162560500501imagejpegaa/aa13/mid_C_48_1911_281_29.jpg1heightpixels649widthpixels50016162560500501imagejpegaa/aa13/C_48_1911_281_29.jpg1heightpixels740widthpixels57016162560500501imagejpegaa/aa13/preview_C_48_1911_281_29.jpg1heightpixels325widthpixels25016162560500501image0media
