The small looped handle has two notches at the top. The octagonal domed cover has a flange on its underside to fit inside the teapot, and has a ventilation hole. and finial with a shallow conical top. The oblong panels are decorated in relief with the following on each side: a coat of arms over a stag; the fable of the fox and the crane over; Cupid on a lion; a bearded man's head over a fox stealing a goose; and Danaë amongst clouds over a unicorn.
