This style was characterised by soft colours, including notably a rose-pink, which this teapot imitates particularly well. Famille rose porcelain was produced in China specifically for the Western market, where Oriental wares were viewed as the height of fashion. However, they were also very expensive. English potters produced objects like this teapot in the cheaper material of salt-glazed stoneware for middle class customers who could not afford genuine Chinese porcelain.referenceterm-113159adlib-term-1131594bdfb4a7-b307-3dfa-a3d6-8ada4683271e18th Century, third quarter#referenceterm-107736adlib-term-107736e93a8dd1-d76d-320b-be9b-afa352e322a1George IIreferenceterm-107437adlib-term-10743796f4b0d1-fc11-39ff-ae91-1b23d888d479George IIIwhitereferenceterm-42825adlib-term-42825858e5d17-b554-33d6-936f-25b16f72f39dstonewarereferenceterm-107563adlib-term-10756338dcd825-1de1-3222-82c6-15a95729b5ffenamelsreferenceterm-37110adlib-term-37110ef92f1a8-1400-3fa3-863f-e099781ea442salt-glazeWidthcm12.1referencemedia-45686adlib-media-45686d9a502ed-ff03-33cd-a0b3-ebe07382b137jpegaa/aa7/C_601_20_26_20A_1928_281_29.jpg1heightpixels550widthpixels76016162807375851imagejpegaa/aa7/mid_C_601_20_26_20A_1928_281_29.jpg1heightpixels362widthpixels50016162807375851imagejpegaa/aa7/C_601_20_26_20A_1928_281_29.jpg1heightpixels550widthpixels76016162807375851imagejpegaa/aa7/preview_C_601_20_26_20A_1928_281_29.jpg1heightpixels181widthpixels25016162807375851image0media
