There are four holes pierced in the body behind the spout. Remnants of oil gilding remains on the reliefs and on one side; also over a fault on the lower part of the handle. The pot has a globular body standing on a circular foot,  a crabstock handle and spout, and an almost flat cover with a bird-shaped knob.  Each side of the pot is decorated with a vertical vine spray, and there is a leaf and two small bunches of grapes on the top of the cover. Both were salt-glazed stoneware potters in the late 1740s, but from c. 1751 to 1760 Littler was making porcelain at Longton Hall, and by 1764 was doing so at West Pans in Scotland.  There are several documentary references and advertisements mentioning blue ware during the 1750s.
