The cylindrical mug has a loop handle. Transfer-printed in front with the arms of the Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters. In the centre is a knitting machine surrounded by a scroll border, which sprouts sprays of leaves and flowers at the corners, with the Company motto – ‘SPEED, STRENGTH AND TRUTH UNITED’ – on a ribbon below. To the left is a man in an academic cap and gown; he points to the knitting machine with his right hand. To the right is a woman in a dress and a bonnet; she points to the inscription with her left hand. The print is signed below the motto on the left ‘J Aynsley’ and on the right ‘Lane end’.
