Yellow-glazed earthenware, bat-printed onglaze in brownish-red, and painted in brownish-red enamel. Circular with deep rounded sides and low spreading foot. On each side there is an applied ram's head mask. The circular cover rises slightly in the middle and then rises sharply upwards to a small platform on which is a cone-shaped finial. One side of the basin is decorated with a couple taking tea out-of-doors. They sit on a settee with a circular tea table in front of them, accompanied by a small dog who sits expectantly on the right. Behind them there is a tree and on the right, part of a balustrade and plants. On the left, a servant stands pouring water from a kettle into a teapot. On the other side is a landscape with a man fishing from a boat, and in the background, a tower house, a windmill and a church. On the cover there are two prints of a building in a landscape, one smaller than the other. There are red enamel bands round the foot and rim of the basin, the rim and round the central area of the cover, and more thickly round the top of the finial.
