The figures are supported on a high rectangular pedestal with mouldings round the top and bottom of its sides. It is hollow underneath and has a small ventilation hole under the shepherd. The figures stand side by side facing the viewer with a very small seated dog between them.  The shepherdess, on the left, is a little shorter than the shepherd. In her right hand she holds a staff, and in her left holds a stem with a flower and leaves in front of her waist.
