Ten figures made in 1743-4 were based on engravings by Joullain to illustrate Riccoboni's 'Histoire du théatre italien', Paris, 1729. The Dancing Harlequin may have been modelled by Reinicke in 1747, and its pose appears to be adaptation of an engraving by Berain of the actor Henri Dumoulin titled 'Du Moulin en habit de Paysan'. A rare Longton Hall porcelain Harlequin might have been the immediate model for the Staffordshire white salt-glazed stoneware version.referenceterm-106451adlib-term-1064519cdfd62c-ee07-3884-ae08-c797aad0863118th Century, Midreferenceterm-107736adlib-term-107736e93a8dd1-d76d-320b-be9b-afa352e322a1George IIoff-whitereferenceterm-42825adlib-term-42825858e5d17-b554-33d6-936f-25b16f72f39dstonewareHeightcm11.3referencemedia-46924adlib-media-4692400796012-5e97-3cba-8690-52b619a0c73bjpegaa/aa7/C_809_1928_281_29.jpg1heightpixels740widthpixels57016162381086891imagejpegaa/aa7/mid_C_809_1928_281_29.jpg1heightpixels649widthpixels50016162381086891imagejpegaa/aa7/C_809_1928_281_29.jpg1heightpixels740widthpixels57016162381086891imagejpegaa/aa7/preview_C_809_1928_281_29.jpg1heightpixels325widthpixels25016162381086891image0media
