DESCRIPTIVE DATA
----------------
object type: Greyish-buff stoneware, probably thrown in parts, with moulded and hand-modelled details, and salt-glaze. The watch stand is in the form of a building standing on a roughly oval base with straight ends, edged by applied circles. It comprises two crenellated circular towers linked by a floor supported by two fluted columns (one missing) to create a porch, at the back of which inside is a Gothic style door. Above, each tower is surmounted by a smaller turrets with a conical roof and crockets, and between them is an oval structure with crenellations and a row of applied circles at the front, and below them, a circular aperture to accommodate a large pocket watch. The lower towers each have five applied lattice windows and a Gothic style door, and the upper towers each have two similar windows. The edging of circles is repeated on the top of all the towers and across the front edge of the linking floor. On either side of the door of the right tower there are three heaps of strands of clay, perhaps intended to represent bushes, and one heap beside the other door. The back of the structure is undecorated
