IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 76738 accession number: C.2379-1928 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Saturday 6 August 2011 updated: Wednesday 9 March 2016 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Buff earthenware, the back moulded in relief, the receptacle thrown and applied, tin-glazed on the front and painted in pale yellowish-green and manganese-purple; the glaze has been wiped off most of the reverse. The vesica-shaped back is moulded in relief with a winged cherub's head at the top and a cherub on each side flanking the Crucifixion. Below the winged cherub's head there is a round hole to take a suspension cord or hook. The receptacle is bowl-shaped with an everted rim, and a low narrow foot. The outlines of the cherubs, Christ and his loin cloth are manganese-purple.
