DESCRIPTIVE DATA
----------------
object type: Hard-paste porcelain, moulded, glazed and painted in turquoise, green, yellow, flesh, dull red, beige, brown, and black enamels, and gilt. The underside is glazed. The figure is supported on a roughly rectangular, low rocky base with a rock surmounted by a rustic fence on the viewer's right. The goatherd stands on his right leg with his left advanced, and leans on his left elbow on the fence. He looks downwards towards a brown and white kid which he holds under his right arm. He wears a wide brimmed black hat, a long white coat edged with brown and with gold buttons, a white waistcoat with a floral pattern which is confined by a belt at the waist and left unbuttoned so as to expose a white shirt open at the neck, yellow knee breaches, white stockings and brown gaiters over black shoes. A wicker covered flask with a brown strap lies to the viewer's right of his left foot. A turquoise and green plant is growing up the front of the supporting rock.
object type: Soft-paste porcelain figure of a Goatherd, moulded and painted overglaze in polychrome enamels.
