The exterior has four upright lotus-petal shaped panels enclosing three trees in blossom and sprays of chrysanthemum in aubergine, green, yellow and white reserved against a lustrous black ground; a band of small white and aubergine upright petals encircles the base and there is a green cracked-ice border strewn with prunus florettes beneath the rim. The interior is pencilled in black with a floral sprig at the centre and a scroll border round the rim. The decoration is all on the biscuit beneath a smeared colourless glaze.
