The underside is unglazed and has a large circular central ventilation hole. The rectangular base has deep straight sides, and rises up into a rock behind which is a tall narrow tree stump bearing applied groups of an acorn and oak leaves. The rock is decorated with nine applied flower heads.The nude, wavy-haired boy sits on the rock with his left leg behind him, and his right leg forward projecting over the edge. He leans back slightly and holds a long cone-shaped pipe in both hands.
