  <description>
    <value>Soft-paste porcelain figure of a Seated Man representing Autumn, slip-cast, lead-glazed, and painted in turquoise, green, yellow, flesh, pink, orange, red, purple, and black enamels and gilt. The unglazed underside has a large circular ventilation hole near the back. The rounded rectangular base has three low scroll feet at the front. It rises up at the back into a tree stump with on each side, a short branch bearing applied flowers and leaves. The man sits on the stump with his left foot over his right. His head is tilted to his left, and he supports a basket of grapes on his knee with his left hand, and holds a bunch of grapes over the basket in his right. He wears a turquoise hat with a yellow flower on the turned back brim at the front, behind which are two feathers, one red, and the other edged with purple. He has a pink jacket lined with yellow, a white waistcoat with gold binding and buttons, white breeches with a red, turquoise and gold floral pattern, an orange flower on each knee, and black shoes with a yellow flowers on the top. A small skin bag is slung on a white and gold strap across his body. The flowers on the stump are orange, and there is a yellow, orange and pink rose and three leaves on the viewer's right of the base, and three pink and orange flowers wand five leaves on the left. The scrolls are picked out in gold.</value>
