The model is heavy for its size. The unglazed underside has a large round ventilation hole under the lady. The rounded oblong base rises up on the left side into a low rock and tree stump, which has a circular hole at the top to take an attachment. The lady sits in front of the stump with her left leg forward, looking towards a young man. She places her left arm round his shoulders, and raises her right hand. The man kneels on his right knee and has his left foot forward. He places his hat with a nest containing three chicks in its crown onto her lap. His left arm is forward, and his right elbow rests on the stump. Both figures have small heads, and very slender limbs with small hands and feet. The girl's hair is long, and falls over her right shoulder in a thin coil. She wears a decolleté bodice laced together down the front, and a skirt. He has long hair tied in a queue with a bow at the nape of the neck.He wears a jacket and breeches. Both have shoes with bows on top. On the ground between them there is a recumbent spaniel.
