DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Earthenware, tin-glazed overall. Painted in bright blue.
Oviform with a spreading foot, short flaring neck, and two handles in the form of a monster's head with a grotesque mask in relief below; another mask is applied to the middle of the lower part of the body.
A scroll inscribed 'Aqua de liris' in gothic letters runs round the body at the level of the masks. Between the first two words there is a reclining, partially draped man, facing to the right, blowing a long trumpet which he holds in his left hand. Above the scroll on both sides of the jar, there are sketchy landscapes with buildings. The rest of the surface is strewn with fruits, foliage and insects. There are horizontal bands round the rim, the middle of the neck, the junction of the foot and body, and the edge of the foot. The underside of the foot is marked in blue with a lighthouse.
