object type: Fragment of a plate or bowl. Pale buff earthenware, tin-glazed on both sides, and painted in blue, green, and pale orange. Irregularly-shaped oblong fragment, slightly concave. On the front are green and yellow elliptical motifs (leaves?) placed tip to tip to form a zig-zag within a contour with dark blue in the spaces. On either side there are blue 'ladder' borders, and, at the top, a broad blue band. On the back there are concentric blue and orange circles.

value: One of a group of sherds accompanied by a label stating that they were 'Mostly bought at Orvieto; some pieces, marked P on the back, from Perugia. The Orvieto pieces, with a few exceptions, were found in excavating foundations for houses near Cathedral.'
