  <description>
    <value>Silver; the bowl has tapering triangular sides on a pentagonal stem and foot. The interior of the bowl is gilt. The stem has a textured surface resembling bark; at the centre of which is a large petagonal knop set with five oval cabuchon cut blue topazes. The low trumpet-shaped foot sits on a concave foot ring. Stamped under the base of the cup are the coat-of-arms of Richard, 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam and the motto 'DEO JUVENTE'. The number '1/150' is engraved. The case (A) is of wood (?) covered in white leather, and lined with dark blue silk and velvet, the lower part fitted to take the cup. The inside of the lid is printed with 'AURUM' in gold . The booklet (B) has a white cover printed on the front with the arms of Lord Fitzwilliam. Inside the first page is printed in red 'FITZWILLIAM MUSEUM CUP NO.' with '1' inscribed in black ink /THIS CERTIFIES THAT THE ABOVE IS/ONE OF THE SOLE LIMITED EDITION/of 150 CUPS COMMISSIONED BY THE/MUSEUM IN 1975/signed 'Butler' in blue ink 'CHAIRMAN/THE FITZWILLIAM MUSEUM STYNDICATE'. On the verso is the name and adress of the maker in red 'Aurum Designs/34a Maiden Lane/London WC2E 7JS. There follows an introduction by Robin Crighton, a description of the cup and a full page illustration, four alternate pages of photographs and text explaining the methods used in the cup's manufacture, and finally a page on the Fitzwilliam Museum, and a red print of the facade of the building.</value>
