Of four-lobed oval shape, the rim moulded as a series of looped scrolls, the two end ones rising to form handles decorated with bows of ribbon. The inner edges of the lobes are scalloped and fluted. There is a suspension hole in the footring. The bleu nouveau ground is overlaid by garlands of flowers and and of leaves and berries, linked by scrolls in tooled gilding. The oval quatrefoil reserve in the centre is edged with a wide band of gilding tooled with flowerheads, and painted with a scene depicting an altar to Hymen beneath a tree. The altar is in the form of a fluted pink marble column on which stands a basket of flowers containing a flaming heart. To the right of the altar are two doves standing on an overturned urn, a two garlands of pink roses, and a bow and quiver. To the left is a torch, and a shield bearing a heart pierced by an arrow. Another bow and a quiver are suspended from the tree. In the background there is a flowering bush, and distant trees. The looped scrolls on the edge and the bows are white with gilded edges. This form is believed to be the tray described as plateau à baguettes or baguettes à rubans in the factory's sales records and inventories in the 1760s. The term means 'piped' or moulded, and probably refers to the edging on the rim which resembles the piped edges on cushions or upholstery.
