(See Documentation, Savill, 1988, III, p. 970-1.) The gobelet Bouillard was first recorded in November 1753 and continued to be made until the 1790s. This example is of the first size with cup height 5.8 to 6.9 cm and saucer diameter 13 to 14.3 cm. Monochrome blue floral decoration on a white ground had been introduced at Vincennes, and sprays of trailing and twining flowers continued to be popular during the 1760s and 1770s on tableware and items for the toilette. Similar decoration can be seen on a pair of ice-pails of 1767 and a ewer and basin of 1771 in the Royal Collection.
