The original part of album begins with the etchings of Van de Velde etc, which are set into the album leaves (beginning with the titlepages V.1-34 and V.1-36a (hidden underneath V.1-36). The other prints have been pasted onto the leaves (around the original contents) by their edges. This pasting was done sometime after 1879, when a large number of loose prints were donated by Vansittart to the Museum.
