object type: Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue. Square with a large pinhole in the glaze near the lower right front corner, a rounded triangular depression in the lower left back corner, and numerous pin-holes all over the back. The front is painted with a chequer pattern with four blue and four white squares in each row. The back is initialled and dated '.T.S./1723'.
