<note>
<value>Although the form of this small table follows the style of the 1720s and 1730s, the ornament of engraved ivory scrolls and fantastic figures is derived from north Italian furniture of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Furniture in the Neo-Renaissance, or Renaissance Revival, style featured freely combined elements from a variety of sources, including late Mannerist architecture and the ornate court style of François I (ruled 1515-47).</value>
