The front of the leaf is decorated with a classical scene set in a landscape with an urn on a pedestal at the left, and arrangements of flowers and foliage at the extreme right and left. A woman with two female attendants standing beside the pedestal, greets a man wearing a laurel wreath and holding a rolled up scroll in his left hand. An attendant stands behind him to the left, and on the right is a woman and an old man kneeling on the ground, holding a rolled scroll in his left hand and stretching out his left towards the man. The reverse has a chinoiserie scene showing a small boy taking a teapot and cup on a tray to a Chinese lady holding a screen fan, who sits on the left of him. On either side of the figures there are shrubs with black stems and pink flowers. The sticks are carved in the centre with a shaped cartouche carved with two seated figures on the left, and an uncarved area on the right (two sticks may be replacements). On each side there are two differently shaped cartouches, one containing a pair of seated putti, and another cotaining a swan or goose with a background of pierced foliage. There is a little dog in the foreground and a building behind a wall in the background.  In the left medallion, a man is playing the drums; in the right one a woman is playing the mandolin.  All three scenes are bordered by scrolling ornaments between two dotted gold lines. Four cartouches show stalks with vases on top.  On the bottom, buildings and sprays of flowers; on top, a ribbon with a dotted blue and red zigzag pattern over a row of pierced scrolls.  Back:  In the central cartouche, a landscape with three women and two men dancing in a circle holding hands round a tree.  The flanking panels have trees in landscapes.  Between the main cartouches light blue and white panels with buildings, sprays of flowers and pierced scrolls are positioned. On the right, a couple playing a game of cards is worked.  The top edging is of a green and gold line; left, right and lower edging are of a single gold line.  There are gold square ornaments with circles on a brown background at the top corners of the leaf.  Back: A shepherdess is sitting on a bank under a tree; in the background, there is a little house with a fence in front of a forest.  Sprays of flowers and some wavy ornaments border the scene.  Sticks:  In the centre, a chinoiserie scene with two seated people on a table and on the left, a classical ruin painted in blue and on the right, painted in brown, probably a squirrel attacking a basket of grapes, which has turned over.  The three scenes, which follow the colour concept of the main scenes of the leaf, are bordered by a gold scrolling ornament.  There is a Chinese-style rose on the reverse of the back guard; the first and second sticks have sprays of roses, the twenty-first and twenty-second sticks show a bird and an insect.  The lower part of the sticks is pierced to show a lacy pattern when the fan is open.  Reverse decorated with a little gold flower arrangement in the centre.  Guards:  Both guards are decorated in a similar way.  The shoulder has encrusted striations of wood and ivory; the guard proper is carved, pierced and backed with puce foil on the top and bottom. Reverse:  A basket of fruit, which is under attack from a grey squirrel, surrounded by floral sprays.
