About 1748-50 Kaendler modelled a set of eight figures of which seven were inspired by Weigel\u2019s prints. The ceremonial costumes of the various ranks of Saxon miners were recorded in a set of drawings by H.C. Fehling which were engraved by Christoph Weigel and published at Nuremburg in 1721 with the title Abbildung und Beschreibung derer s\u00e4mtlichen BergwerksBeamten und Bedienten nach ihrem gew\u00f6hnlichen Rang und Ordnung in beh\u00f6rigen Berg-Habit (Illustration and escription of the costumes of all the mine officers and employees according to their customary rank and class). They commemorated the participation of the miners in the festivities which took place in Dresden in 1719 to celebrate the marriage of Prince Freerick Augustus to the Princess Maria Josepha von Habsburg. This particular figure is wearing a white costume worn for work and on Sundays. Green hats were favoured in the early 18th century, and black ones later. Miners who could not afford new ones were permitted to repair their hats by putting a linen band round the outside, usually pink, and known as 'boy' (see Documentation, Lehmann 2000 and 2003).\n\nAbout 1748-50 Kaendler and Reinicke modelled a set of eight figures of which seven were inspired by Weigel\u2019s prints. The exact date is not known because the factory records of the modellers\u2019 work are missing between 1748 and 1764. In this set the figures are standing, on a square mound base strewn with flowers, and not shown working as some later figures were,"}],"periods":[{"@link":{"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"term-106451","uid":"adlib-term-106451","uuid":"9cdfd62c-ee07-3884-ae08-c797aad08631"},"summary_title":"18th Century, Mid"}],"places":[{"@link":{"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"term-110409","uid":"adlib-term-110409","uuid":"2040047c-eefc-3538-8b3d-60185614825b"},"hierarchies":[[{"@link":{"type":"literal"},"name":[{"value":"Germany"}],"summary_title":"Germany","type":"country"},{"@link":{"type":"literal"},"name":[{"value":"Saxony"}],"summary_title":"Saxony","type":"region"}]],"summary_title":"Meissen"}]}]},"materials":[{"reference":{"@link":{"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"term-37627","uid":"adlib-term-37627","uuid":"254febfe-0021-3e45-89a7-d57ba40044c7"},"summary_title":"hard-paste porcelain"}}],"measurements":{"dimensions":[{"dimension":"Depth","units":"cm","value":"8.7"},{"dimension":"Height","units":"cm","value":"20"},{"dimension":"Width","units":"cm","value":"9"}]},"name":[{"reference":{"@link":{"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"term-110220","uid":"adlib-term-110220","uuid":"e22d3544-a393-3f19-9be4-dc2632ca9942"},"summary_title":"figure group"}}],"note":[{"type":"history note","value":"Purchaed by the 2nd Lord Fisher of Kilverstone from Willy Lissauer, Berlin, on 5 May 193for \u00a330"}],"objects":[{"@link":{"cascade":true,"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"object-140285","uid":"adlib-object-140285","uuid":"5e91af95-86ad-3ed7-91b0-2898edcccb44"},"summary":{"reference":{"@link":{"impact":true,"type":"reference","workflow":true},"admin":{"id":"term-110220","uid":"adlib-term-110220","uuid":"e22d3544-a393-3f19-9be4-dc2632ca9942"},"summary_title":"figure group"}},"summary_title":"figure group"},{"@link":{"cascade":true,"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"object-131048","uid":"adlib-object-131048","uuid":"a7fb8bb7-ad45-3187-8cf0-694c7da0a797"},"summary":{"reference":{"@link":{"impact":true,"type":"reference","workflow":true},"admin":{"id":"term-107454","uid":"adlib-term-107454","uuid":"6ca0f2ab-c1f8-329d-8a45-8f1322f53a20"},"summary_title":"figure"}},"summary_title":"figure"},{"@link":{"cascade":true,"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"object-140273","uid":"adlib-object-140273","uuid":"b7290873-535c-3546-af70-dd5670f3aca2"},"summary":{"reference":{"@link":{"impact":true,"type":"reference","workflow":true},"admin":{"id":"term-107454","uid":"adlib-term-107454","uuid":"6ca0f2ab-c1f8-329d-8a45-8f1322f53a20"},"summary_title":"figure"}},"summary_title":"figure"},{"@link":{"cascade":true,"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"object-140269","uid":"adlib-object-140269","uuid":"814f77a3-0809-3caa-bc26-123e7ec84a28"},"summary":{"reference":{"@link":{"impact":true,"type":"reference","workflow":true},"admin":{"id":"term-107454","uid":"adlib-term-107454","uuid":"6ca0f2ab-c1f8-329d-8a45-8f1322f53a20"},"summary_title":"figure"}},"summary_title":"figure"},{"@link":{"cascade":true,"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"object-140271","uid":"adlib-object-140271","uuid":"965deeb6-3f32-3f74-b3ba-b58e13ccc091"},"summary":{"reference":{"@link":{"impact":true,"type":"reference","workflow":true},"admin":{"id":"term-107454","uid":"adlib-term-107454","uuid":"6ca0f2ab-c1f8-329d-8a45-8f1322f53a20"},"summary_title":"figure"}},"summary_title":"figure"},{"@link":{"cascade":true,"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"object-131045","uid":"adlib-object-131045","uuid":"cab2b909-884c-36bd-9c8c-90a5aa5d3ea0"},"summary":{"reference":{"@link":{"impact":true,"type":"reference","workflow":true},"admin":{"id":"term-107454","uid":"adlib-term-107454","uuid":"6ca0f2ab-c1f8-329d-8a45-8f1322f53a20"},"summary_title":"figure"}},"summary_title":"figure"}],"owners":[{"@link":{"type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"agent-149638","uid":"adlib-agent-149638","uuid":"7376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8"},"summary_title":"The Fitzwilliam Museum"}],"publications":[{"@link":{"notes":"Cf. p. 29, fig. 41, no. 1342, in black ceremonial dress","page":"29","type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"publication-4921","uid":"adlib-publication-4921","uuid":"e5683ff8-7ba5-39b5-a137-e248897a3742"},"summary_title":"Festive Publication to Commemorate the 200th Jubilee of the Oldest European China Factory, Meissen"},{"@link":{"notes":"Ref. and cf. p. 214, pl. 16, another example with a black hat, and pl. 17 Weigel's print of 'Ein Bergs\u00e4nger' in parade dress","page":"203-22","type":"reference"},"admin":{"id":"publication-200002413","uid":"adlib-publication-200002413","uuid":"240cf479-b48e-340d-8165-987e0869a17d"},"summary_title":"Betrachtungen zur Folge der Bergmannsfiguren von J.J.
