The lady sits in front of the stump with her left leg forward, looking towards a young man. She places her left arm round his shoulders, and raises her  right hand. The man kneels on his right knee and has his left foot forward. He places his hat with a nest containing three chicks in its crown onto her lap. His left arm is forward, and his right elbow rests on the stump. Both figures have small heads, and very slender limbs with small hands and feet. The girl's hair is long, and falls over her right shoulder in a thin coil. She wears a decollet\u00e9 bodice laced together down the front, and a skirt. He has long hair tied in a queue with a bow at the nape of the neck.He wears a jacket and breeches. Both have shoes with bows on top. On the ground between them there is a recumbent spaniel. Girl-in-the-Swing figures were formerly attributed to Chelsea. Documentary evidence found in France (see Documentation, Dragesco, 1993), suggests strongly that they were made by Charles Gouyn, whose address was at the Turk's Head, Bennet Street, St James's, London, from 1735 to 1783. It is not known conclusively that this was where the figure's were made, nor who the modeller or modellers were."},{"value":"The figures of Hercules and Omphale were taken from an engraving by Laurent Cars (1699-1771) of 1728, after the painting of 1724 by Fran\u00e7ois Lemoyene, now in the Louvre. A model with this title was listed in the Vincennes porcelain factory's inventory of October 1752, and two different versions of it have been recorded, one closely related to the painting which could have been the inspiration for the English group. The other is a different composition in which Omphale sits beside Hercules with Cupid beside
