The cup is of curved beaker form with an everted rim, standing on a slightly domed and stepped foot. The handle has a swan's head upper terminal attached to the inside of the rim. It rises up above the rim and curves downwards and inwards to rejoin the side of the cup. The outside is moulded with an acanthus leaf, and there is a small circular 'bridge' half way up. The circular saucer has sloping sides, and a recessed base.          \nOn the front of the cup there is a biscuit cameo head of a woman of in profile to right in an oval medallion with a gilt vermicul\u00e9 ground. The rest of the exterior has a pink ground decorated at the top with a horizontal border of laurel and berries with a spray hanging down on each side of the handle. There is a broad gold band round the edge of the foot, and apart from the rim, and a small circle in the centre, the whole of the interior is gold. The handle is gold except for four reserved white bands.                     \nThe saucer is decorated in the centre with a circular medallion with a broad bold frame enclosing a gold stylized flower head. The rest of the inside has a pink ground, and there is a broad gold band round the rim. The model master, Johann Peter Melchior (active 1797-1822 at the factory) created a series of portrait busts which were also produced as biscuit reliefs and as decoration for vessels. The model of the Queen of Bavaria was made in 1809. The relief on the cup was modelled by Adam Clair who was employed at Nymphenburg between 1800-29, and executed Melchior's designs. She wears a sack-back dress with a train, bows at the top and bottom of the stomacher, and on the front of each sleeve above the elbow. The Turk is seated on his right hip with both legs sloping to his left, his left arm bent and held out to his right, and his head turned sharply over his left shoulder towards the viewer.  He holds the coffee cup in his right hand and leans on his right forearm on the scroll table. He has a very slender pigtail, and a moustache, and wears a skull cap, a high-necked coat with buttons down the front and scalloped edges to the sleeves and lower edge, voluminous trousers gathered at the ankle, and pointed slippers. A flower surrounded by eight leaves is applied to the ground in front of the stump. The elegant shepherd reclines on the bank, leaning his right elbow on the stump, and holding the peg end of the lute in his left hand and plucking its strings with his right. His head is turned sharply to the viewer's left, his right leg is extended behind him, and his right foot projects over the left front of the base. Her head is tilted and turned towards her left, her neck is long and slender, and she is nude apart from a yellow and pale mauve drape over her right shoulder which is held in place by a pale mauve ribbon which encircles her torso below the breasts and is tied with a bow under her truncated left arm. At the front, the drape forms a curved projection filled with flowers.
