On the top at the front there is the remnant of a pink flower, and a leaf. The nymph steps forward on her left leg with her upper body in contraposto. She looks and leans downwards and in both hands holds a large shallow shell filled with two mottled pink shells, coral and pearls. Her long greyish-brown hair hangs down in two wavy tresses over her shoulders and at the sides of her head is interwoven with green ribbon and peals. her face is delicated tinted flesh-pink, and she has black eyes, and red lips. Her right arm is at her side, and her left held out in front. Her head is turned slightly to her left. She has brown eyes and eyebrows, and greyish-brown hair dressed in a knot at the back with a long tress hanging below it. She wears a gilded frontlet in her hair, and a white, close-fitting, gold edged chiton pinned to form a sleeve and partially covered by a himation which is pale yellow with a purple and green sprigged floral design, and a gold fringe. It passes over her left shoulder and is held up over her left arm so that the green lining is revealed. The underside is glazed an has four supporting struts projecting inwards from the sides, and a large round ventilation hole under the urn.                   The rectangular straight-sided base is decorated on three sides with panels containing swags of flowers and foliage in relief, held up at either end by a gold stud. The edges of the panels are bordered by gold lines and the top is grey-green. Artemisia stands beside an urn on a pedestal, resting her left elbow on its top and holding a cup in her right hand which also rests upon it. Her weight is on her right leg, her left foot is crossed over in front of it, and she leans forward and looks down.  She has greyish-brown hair, brown eyes and eyebrows, and red lips, and on each cheek, a tear. She wears a gold frontlet and a salmon-pink, white and gold veil which hangs down at the back and is held  in her left hand beside her shoulder. The lower part of her body is wrapped in a white, gold-edged garment, over which she has a tunic with a green and purple sprigged and dotted pattern, and mauve edges and lining, which reveals most of the right side of her body. On her right upper arm she has a gold and mauve bangle, and on her feet gold sandals. The square pedestal has mouldings on the upper and lower edges and is painted in salmon pink, pale yellow and gold. The urn is white with a series of green oval indentations on its neck, and gold lines on the edges of the relief decoration. On the front it has a rectangular panel inscribed in gold with the Greek words \u0398\u0395\u041e\u0406\u03a3\/ \u039a\u0391\u03a4\u0391\u03a7\u0398\u039f\u039d\u0399\u039f\u0399\u03a3\u2019. The woman sits on a chair with cabriole legs and high shield-shaped back upholstered in green. The back is pale pink with a green grid pattern. To the woman's left there is an oval marble-topped table supported by three inverted cornucopia bound with gold ribbon, and filled with polychrome fruit. A dark grey and white spaniel lies on the base to her right, and there is a pile of books on the front left corner of the base. The woman looks to her left, resting her right foot on the pile of books, and holding up a scroll in her right hand, while  turning over the pages of a music book on the table with her left hand. She has a ruddy complexion, red lips, and dark grey long hair hanging down her back. The man is seated on a pale yellow stool with rococo style scrolled legs and stretchers, and seat upholstered in fabric with a red stylized flowerhead pattern. He leans on his left elbow which rests on a small circular table with a central leg and three scroll feet. A tea bowl stands on the table. His head is turned to the viewer\u2019s left, and his legs are stretched out in front of him in that direction with his left foot crossed over his right. He holds his right hand up at chest level. His long grey hair is  tied back with a purple ribbon.
