Scope note

Use for the process or condition of growing in bulk or size, as for example by inflation or accumulation of fluids. Use also for the distended, protuberant, or thickened portion of something, such as the entasis of a column, the thickened portion of a gunstock, or the extra thickness on the back of the text block of a book caused by the sewing thread or extreme guarding.
